CHALLENGE - ARE YOU ARE FIT AS A WW2 U.S. G.I?

"Tests motivate the men to improve their physical condition. Frequently men do not realize what poor condition they are in. When the tests reveal their deficiencies, they are much more receptive to an intensive physical training program in order to remedy their shortcomings."

I found this test whilst researching my upcoming book "12 Essential Skills" and immediately knew I had to have a go myself. I was intrigued by the age of the test, that it was well documented and that it was rooted into the fabric of wartime history.

Here is a link to the original article from The Art of Manliness which does a much better job of explaining the history of the test than I will. https://www.artofmanliness.com/health-fitness/fitness/are-you-as-fit-as-a-world-war-ii-gi/

The one thing missing from the article was the author giving it a go so I thought I would instead.

Whilst the above site does provide a score sheet it doesn't mention how the score is to be counted overall. I used my intuition and assumed it was out of 500 points overall.

Here is the full tests score sheet.

Also consider that the tests can be completed over a couple of hours. I imagine this is because they would have been testing large numbers of men in groups. This would have definitely made a difference to my scores as we did everything in about 30 minutes.

I scored well on the first three tests but started to suffer on the sit ups and my legs felt very tired during the run and I think I could have got back a few seconds with fresher legs.
