CHALLENGE - 5-10-5



The 5-10-5 is the first of out NFL combine tests. It’s sometimes called the 20 yard shuttle drill.


Equipment – Three marker cones, a stop watch and time keeper. This drill is best performed on a lined Football pitch as the markings are already there.


Aim – To test your acceleration, deceleration and turning speed.


Technique – Three cones are arranged in a line at 0, 5 and 10 yards (0, 4.572 and 9.144 meters). Start by straddling the centre line in a three point stance (one hand touching the floor).

On the go command turn either left or right and sprint 5 yards to the first marker. The hand must touch the ground in line with or over the line.

Turn and sprint the full 10 yards back and touch the other line.

Turn again and sprint the last 5 yards through the middle line.


Record the best of three attempts.
