Functional Muscle combines functional strength training, speed, power, endurance and flexibility into a complete training package.

THE SYSTEM
Training is usually broken down into 3 or 4 phases. Traditional strength, functional strength training and performance and finally traditional lifting.
These phases cycle in 1 to 2 week training blocks and keep moving on a rolling basis so it doesn’t matter when you sign up, you just slot into the current training cycle.
There are four workouts per week (16-18 each month) with an additional set of support workouts for extra fitness and fat burning that can be accessed whenever suits you during the months training plan if you require extra work.
THE APP
The workouts are delivered via a personalized and state of the art app available on both Android and ios.

As you go through the workouts you can watch videos for technique demonstrations and enter your reps and weights for every set
The app remembers your weights so it provides great motivation for repeat lifts and takes away any guesswork.

The program is user friendly and also allows for integrations for thins like of smart watches and Myfitnesspal etc.
the coach
My name is Matt. I have over 20 years experience as a certified strength coach. I've trained everyone from soccer moms to combat athletes.

My own workouts, although technically sound, used to be more of an assault on the body and mind than a method of self improvement.
​
As the years went on I learned to strike a good balance between challenging and too hard. Developing strength that you can use. Building muscle that isn't for the sole purpose of posing in the mirror.

I'm a firm believer in building a body works when you need it. That you should be able to lift, carry, jump, balance, run, throw and survive not just catastrophe but slow the aging process.
FAQ'S
Can I cancel? - You can cancel anytime you like either before the trial ends or at any other time.

How are the sessions delivered? - Sessions are contained within my own personalized app and delivered at the start of the month. In this app you can watch videos of the exercises, log your lifts (weights and reps etc), rate your workouts and track your progress. I can also message the entire training community with updates and suggestions.

Is it hard? - Like any workout, it's as hard as you make it. Stick with the prescribed sets, reps and recommend loads and you will be challenged. Unlike many "static" training programs this program is designed to make you more athletic so movement and skill acquisition will be a feature.
Is it easy? - See above.
Why is this different from others? - The training program itself is great but the way it's delivered and the interactive nature your workouts are logged is a game changer. The fact that others are also completing the same program also means that this doesn't have to be you Vs you anymore if you don't want it to be.
What equipment? - It's rare that resistance machines are used but this program requires reasonably well equipped gym with a minimum or barbells and dumbbells with enough weight to challenge you and some basic cardio equipment. Obviously the more equipment you have the better as it means you will have to make fewer substitutions.
What level are the workouts for? - Anyone can do these workouts but I would recommend you don't start the program until you have some basic lifting experience. All exercises come with videos to check technique but nothing beats having done the movements well beforehand.
