WINTER WARRIORLAND

GET STRONG, BURN CALORIES AND KEEP OFF THE CHRISTMAS BLUBBER.

 A while back I decided to develop a strategy that would allow me to have my cake and eat it too.  I devised a plan that would dedicate more time to training during the month.

​

The aim of the plan was simply waistline damage limitation. And while I still expect to gain some weight during the season; it won’t be the unmitigated disaster it could be.

 

Remember, these rich festive foods pack a lot of energy. A staple of British Christmas cuisine is the humble Mr Kipling Mince Pie. This small treat packs a total of 229kcals, is low in protein and high in fat and carbs. These calories add up. Especially of washed down with a couple or five milk chocolates.

This plan focused on “using” those extra calories by employing more strength training and adding the “Mince Pie Tax” exercises. This meant the inclusion of more high intensity exercises, longer duration cardio then I would usually do and an optional extra workout day.

 

The Winter Warriorland program was born.

Week 1 – Preparation – Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat

Week 2 – Functional strength training and power – Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri/Sat

Week 3 – Traditional strength training and power - Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri/Sat

Week 4 - Traditional strength training and power - Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri

Week 5 – Mixed training - Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri
